Lifestyle news: Are you also among those who feel a strange pain in the head as soon as the alarm rings? If yes, then it may not be a minor fatigue but a signal from your body that something big is wrong. World Brain Tumor Day 2025, celebrated on 8 June, gives us an opportunity to understand how silently brain-related problems are making a place in our lives.

Doctor's warning: Be alert if you have a headache every morning

Dr. Amit Srivastava, Director of Neurology, Max Super Specialty Hospital, Noida, explains that if a person is constantly feeling heaviness, pressure, or severe pain in the head early in the morning, then it can be an early symptom of brain disease or a sleep-related problem. Ignoring it can be dangerous at times.

1. Sleep disturbance = effect on the brain

Using a mobile till late at night, frequent sleep interruptions, or a sleep cycle that is jolted by the alarm does not allow the brain to relax completely. As a result, morning headache becomes a common problem. If this condition persists for a long time, it can also turn into migraine or brain stress disorder.

2. Sleep Apnea: The Hidden Danger With Snoring

If breathing stops frequently at night, there is loud snoring, or the sound of breathing sounds strange while sleeping, it could be sleep apnea. This is a condition that disrupts sleep and causes headaches in the morning. In many cases, it has also been seen in the early signs of brain tumors.

3. Silent attack of stress and depression

In a state of mental stress, depression, or anxiety, our brain remains constantly active, due to which it does not get complete rest even while sleeping. In such a situation, a headache in the morning emerges as an external symptom of this mental fatigue.

4. Clenching the jaw or grinding teeth

Some people unknowingly clench or grind their teeth in sleep. This habit strains the muscles of the jaw and head, causing headache and jaw stiffness in the morning. This is an often ignored but common problem.

5. Sleeping too much is also harmful

The habit of sleeping late on weekends disturbs the body's biological clock, i.e., circadian rhythm. This causes hormonal changes and headaches.  Too much sleep can also put the brain in 'overrest' mode.

What is the solution?

  • Fix the time of sleeping and waking up
  • Stay away from mobile and laptop at night
  • Include light exercise and yoga in the routine
  • If the symptoms persist, contact a neurologist immediately

Having a headache every morning as soon as you wake up is a warning, avoiding or ignoring which is an injustice to yourself. On World Brain Tumor Day 2025, it is very important to understand that the price of ignoring the brain can be very heavy. Be alert in time so that tomorrow's headache does not turn into a major disease.
